If I could have dinner with anyone -- dead or alive -- I would pick...
Walt Disney or Mr. Rogers.
Brian
Three years from now, I hope our birth mom is…..
I hope she is satisfied with the choice she made, happy in the life she's living, and successful in the path she's on.
Rebekah
If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?
RV! My neighbor had a sailboat growing up and I used to clean barnacles off of it - I have no plans to ever do that again! More importantly, I prefer Texas Roadhouse over Red Lobster.
Brian
If I could change one thing about the World, it would be...
It would be that people would be kinder, more understanding, and more empathetic.
Brian
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?
I love the vastness and the mystery. But there's also connection. So those feelings, all bundled up into one, are the first thing that come to mind. The next is aliens. ;)
Rebekah
What scares you?
Needles. I'm irrationally afraid of shots. And my worst nightmare is something poking me in the eye!
Brian
If you could choose one type of food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mexican food!! I feel like you can make a bunch of different things out of those few ingredients and I love cheese.
Rebekah
My favorite place in the World is...
Disney World, specifically Pandora at Animal Kingdom.
Brian
Three years from now, I hope our birth mom is…..
happy!
Brian
When you argue, what’s it about?
A misunderstanding.
Brian
My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…
We live next to a city park with a walking trail and across the street from a church and a temple. We have great neighbors with young kids.
Brian
When you argue, what’s it about?
Usually it's about a misunderstanding. Or missed expectations.
Rebekah
My philosophy on parenting is...
Love first! We try to make sure that our kid(s) always know that nothing they do can change how much we love them and that every rule and consequence is for the purpose of keeping them happy and safe.
Rebekah
If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Oh man, that's a tough one for me. I get pretty motion sick and that would get me in either one of those! But it would probably get me less in an RV. Although I super love to go on cruises!!
Rebekah
Do you have kids? How would they feel about a sibling?
We have one child, who also came to us through adoption. He is excited to be a big brother! He's also nervous that his new sibling will drool on his toys and pull his hair.
Rebekah
Favorite season and why?
FALL. I love the cooler weather, the football, the colors, the comfort food, and all the family traditions we have around the upcoming holidays.
Rebekah
What is the best word to describe your family?
Describing the family that Brian and I created, that word would be tight. Or blessed. Or fun. Or different. But definitely happy.
Rebekah
In five years, our relationship with you will...
It will grow and change and we will navigate it together. But I do hope that it will still be open and happy.
Rebekah
Dogs or cats?
Dogs. Daniel (our son) and I are both allergic to cats. He would LOVE to have a cat if we weren't allergic, though (me too). But I love our dog's loyalty and sweetness and unconditional love.
Rebekah
If I could have dinner with anyone -- dead or alive -- I would pick...
Eve. I would love to hear her thoughts on being called Eve, the mother of all living, before she ever had children.
Rebekah
If you had to pick a famous person to play you in a movie, who would it be?
Yikes. Maybe Kristen Bell or Reese Witherspoon? Someone short and spunky.
Rebekah
My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…
We have some fantastic neighbors with lots of kids and a park just down the street with two more in easy walking distance down a trail. It's a safe and close-knit neighborhood. We love it!
Rebekah
Complete the sentence, “I can’t live without……”
I can't live without Rebekah. She is the order to my chaos and makes sure that I eat relatively healthily and have clean bed sheets!
Brian
My best friend would describe me as......
I actually asked my friends for some descriptive words. They said - "Empathetic, loving, aware, forgiving, brave, kind, non-judgmental, loyal, trustworthy, fun."
Rebekah
Complete the sentence, “I can’t live without……”
I can't live without Brian and Daniel, books, and chocolate!
Rebekah
If you could choose one type of food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cold cereal. To be clear, an assortment of cold cereals. I want to have the variety.
Brian
We are the best choice because…
We're the best choice if we're the right choice. Having adopted before, I trust the process because I've seen first-hand that Daniel was meant to come to our home.
Brian
We are the best choice because…
I believe that babies go where God intends them to be so although we may not be the best choice for you specifically, we are definitely the best choice for someone out there!
Rebekah
Dogs or cats?
Easy - dogs all the way. I've had dogs most of my life and anticipate that remaining true because dogs are awesome!
Brian
The most special thing I own is...
An antique gumball machine that we keep jelly beans for the neighborhood kids in. It was given to me by my grandparents and holds a lot of memories for me.
Brian
If you had to pick a famous person to play you in a movie, who would it be?
Luke Wilson. On more than one occasion I've been asked for his autograph. And in their defense, when Legally Blonde came out, I did look a lot like him - if you squinted.
Brian
What scares you?
Spiders. Black widows to be specific. Also heights, which is new. And sometimes I think about the crevasse in the glacier we visited in Alaska and that makes my palms sweat, too!
Rebekah
Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?
Probably more spiritual, although I am religious as well. But I feel like my focus is on my personal connection to Diety (God, Jesus, the Spirit) which is why I would say spiritual.
Rebekah
If I could change one thing about the World, it would be...
I want more unity. I want people to be kinder to each other and more understanding. I want more peace.
Rebekah
My favorite place in the World is...
Exotically, a quiet beach with a warm sun and a gentle breeze with a book in my hand. Realistically, my bed at bedtime.
Rebekah
Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?
I would lean towards spiritual. I think of religion as a cup and spirituality as water. I appreciate and respect the cup that holds the water, but in the end it's the water that matters.
Brian
Favorite season and why?
Fall because of football, chili, hot chocolate, Halloween, pumpkins, caramel apples, family gatherings, cool weather, I don't have to mow the lawn anymore, and looking forward to Christmas!
Brian
My best friend would describe me as......
creative, competitive, ambitious, hard-working, dependable, loyal, and truthful.
Brian
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?
I was a big fan of astronomy as a kid and it never completely went away. Sometimes life can be pretty hectic but it's hard not to slow down and gain perspective when you take time to stargaze.
Brian
I hope you are...
I hope you are safe and supported right now. I hope you feel loved.
Brian
